Meet the Artist, Shane Seib
Jen, Max , Callie & Shane

Born Shane Allan Lewis Seib, on November 26, 1970 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Shane has been artistic as long as he can remember, working with metal since the age of 8. Learning most of what he knows from helping his father, Allan, who has welded most of his life.

Today Shane and his father own and operate First Impressions. For the past 15 years the two have been hard at work supplying custom metal works to their clients. Most pieces are for the higher end clients who purchase pieces such as furniture, lighting, sculptures, etc. All made of metal.

The furniture making pays the bills, but Shane still likes mostly to be creative at the art end of things. Letting go of the norm and as he says "just going crazy now and then and see what the end product is". Very few of his pieces are drawn or designed before hand. Shane will get an idea and go with it to the end or what he feels is the end. Some of his pieces sit getting little bits done here and there until he feel it is finished, others get done in a day!

Shane's pieces can be seen throughout Canada, the U.S., Japan, Australia and Germany. Most of his work is in private collections and in a few small galleries. Shane also loves to show his passion for country music through his artwork. Over 30 pieces have been created for some of country music's biggest stars. George Strait, Garth Brooks, Keith Urban, Canadians Paul Brandt, Terry Clark and the Wilkensens to name a few.

Most of Shane's pieces border on contemporary and abstract. He does not like to paint any of his work with colors as he feels steel is beautiful so why would you cover it up. Most of his work is left to nature to finish, this way it changes day by day into some other look. His polished pieces have a clear finish to keep them from discoloring. Some of his work is also treated to give great color to the item. Sometimes wood, stone, glass and other alloys are used. Very little new materials are used in creating his masterpieces as Shane likes to recycle as much as possible. Shane feels it is good for the environment and it adds a nice twist to his work. Found and collected pieces, scraps, small odds and ends are what he likes to use. He says it just adds something to the piece you couldn't get using new materials.

Though most of Shane's pieces are smaller, he eventually wants to venture into larger architectural styles for larger areas. There is no space to big or small for Shane's work!
